CWO (Ret) Wofford Lee Taylor, 88 of Phenix City, Alabama died Thursday at the Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services with military honors will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Lakewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Tony Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor was born May 31, 1926 in Burke County, North Carolina; son of the late Wofford Lee Taylor, Sr. and Donnie Elizabeth Brown Taylor. He was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service during the European Theatre of WWII and served in Korea. He was a lifelong athlete, an avid bowler and bowled competitively as long as his health allowed. He was a longtime member of Pinehurst Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Carden Taylor.
Survivors include his children, Ricky Taylor and wife, Lynn of Williston, North Dakota, Randy Taylor and wife, Gina of Winter Haven, FL, Rusty Taylor and wife, Sherrie of Phenix City, AL, Ryan Taylor and wife, Carol of Atlanta, GA, brothers, Dr. Robert Taylor and wife, Rita of Fayetteville, NC, Jim Taylor and wife, Lucille of Pensacola, FL, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
